Executive Summary
It is widely acknowledged that there is a need for Recovery Coaching services within the current corporate environment. With this in mind, we offer our specialised Recovery Coaching Services.
In this document we would like to confirm our understanding of your needs and provide our model and rates. We propose to initiate, manage and deliver a pilot Recovery Coaching and Intervention Program, which offers a visible return on your company’s investment and we believe you will benefit from using the various services we have to offer.
Our specialty is Substance Abuse and Dual Diagnosis interventions and integrations. Each intervention can be specifically designed to suit your needs. Our corporate offering focuses on Corporate Wellness and is delivered through Wellness days and other interventions.
To ensure the successful implementation of the intervention we feel that it is vital to have the following:
1: Awareness around addiction in the work place and to know the consequences thereof. Awareness is raised by means of talks, training, workshops and Wellness Days. Awareness around the progression of the illness i.e. use, misuse, abuse and addiction is covered and discussions around the belief that addiction is a moral dilemma, when it is in fact a disease, are held.
2: An Intervention and Integration Programme that can “bolt” onto the existing wellness programme and assist managers and staff with the challenges faced when dealing with the Chaos, Crisis and Conflict of addressing the addictive system.
3: An internal support network within the organisation, where mentorship skills and discussions offer ongoing support.
What is Upward Spiral?
EMPOWERING PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Upward Spiral is a national initiative that encourages proper training and advice regarding addiction problems in the workplace. Associated with both the SHARP Treatment Centre and Crescent Clinic in Gauteng and other national recovery facilities, Upward Spiral has the ability to discuss and provide functional advice to individuals and groups alike. Over the last year we have developed a Corporate Wellness division. Under this banner we attend wellness days and provide simple, logical and effective advice for individuals who need advice on substance abuse, addiction and related mental disorders, and the treatment thereof.
In conjunction with our clinics we also travel. We have numerous speakers and wellness trainers who are able to speak at corporate functions. Again, providing the same effective advice, presented in an approachable and entertaining manner that will both stimulate and articulate the problems corporates face and the solutions available.
Upward Spiral boasts a respected clientele, with brands such as Investec Bank, Standard Bank, Citi Bank and Credit Suisse, as clients.
Upward Spiral provides tools for the effective management of addictions and the approach to awareness in the workplace.

Presentation:
Pilot Coaching and Intervention Programme:
As you are well aware, substance abuse in the workplace is a highly-sensitive and contentious subject, therefore our interventions are designed using some of the following components:
Presentation (1 hour):
The presentation: ‘Addiction in the workplace - a new approach’ by David Collins covers addiction and intervention in the workplace, it touches on topics relating to the awareness of addiction, and approaching the topic with peers and subordinates.
There is also a further discussion on topics and areas specific to the intervention in and the management of addictions.
Group interaction/feedback
This is a vital part of the workshop, as it allows facilitators to assess the challenges that employees are facing around substance abuse and decide which interventions need to be put in place.
This information will then be given to leadership through a reporting process.
Questions and answers (1 hour):
Employees will receive the opportunity to share their personal experiences around addiction and ask questions pertaining to the presentation.
This will be done in a safe and nurturing way.

National Substance Abuse Helpline (0861 ADDICT-233428)
This Helpline has two main objectives:
· To help prevent the development of problems associated with addiction
· To provide effective interventions and reintegration’s when such problems arise
Why is there a need for this helpline?
For most people, taking a substance is recreational entertainment. However, for a small number of people excessive using may become a problem, or may be the result of a comorbid diagnosis e.g. untreated chemical depression. This results in damaging compulsive and addictive behaviour, which not only affects the individual but the family, the workplace and the country as a whole. This helpline provides fast, effective results and enables us to strike while the iron is hot, ensuring better use of the services already supplied by the company’s existing[W3] Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). This in turn, combined with our database, ensures a better return on investment for corporates.
Treatment Network:
The treatment and counselling is structured around a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselling Line and a nationally-distributed team of skilled and experienced treatment professionals, who are all specifically trained in facing the challenges of addiction and the manifestations thereof e.g. food , gambling, sex, cyber space and many more addictions.
The existing Substance Abuse line and treatment network is a well-established, readily accessible resource which has experience in providing a 24/7 service. In its current form, it is able to deliver a cost-effective, needs-driven and user-friendly, multilingual service nationally.
The service has a proven track record. A documented study of treatment outcomes shows quite conclusively, that purely as a treatment intervention, the service continues to deliver successfully.
Counselling Line:
The Substance Abuse Counselling Line service consists of a team of counsellors who provide callers with a multilingual, 24/7 service.
Types[W4] of help available:
These telephone counsellors are able to:
· Provide information about the service to would-be referrals and referents · Counsel problem users over the telephone when referral for treatment is not required or requested
· Facilitate the referral of problem users to the treatment network when indicated
· Deal with crisis calls, hoax callers and non-problem substance abuse calls in a positive manner
· Use a Case Management system, which allows for each caller to be assessed and counselled, ensuring that the client receives the best use of existing wellness providers
Where are we based?
· Our administrative headquarters are in Gauteng and we have a nationally-based telephonic and referral service.
· The Substance Abuse Counselling and Recovery Coaching has established itself as a reputable resource within the treatment community.
Treatment programme:
If you are identified as being a Substance Abuser and would like further treatment , a counsellor will refer you to your nearest Addictions Clinic or medical professional, who will enrol you in a specific treatment programme. The cost of such treatment is given to the caller, as well as details on medical aid payments for such treatment.
